Is there any way we could find out the real facts about how much kill buyers are paid by the slaughter plants for horses? I've heard so many stories. Is it a flat rate per pound regardless of the condition or age of the horse? Are younger horses worth more? Do they get paid a flat rate for the entire load? Or does each horse get weighed and priced individually? I just can't believe that the KB's buy horses at auctions for up to $500, then pay for the transport to Canada or Mexico and still manage to make a decent profit? AC4H prices are ridiculous, but Camelot prices can be high also. IMO Frank makes way more than $50 on each horse. An honest man would charge $50 over the price he gets from the KB and that should be based on a per pound ratio. The horses temperament, riding skills, looks cease to have relevance once that horse is in the feed lot.
